We have a number of forest fires in our area. One broke out quite close to where we live. Took these images from our backyard . . . The fire is still going strong and may cause problems on the highway near by . . .

Nice shots Peter. Yes, I saw the news tonight, and it's looking like it'll be another bad fire season for BC. Hope the lightning holds off tonight. They're expecting quite a bit in the interior, and that means trouble. Good luck in your area. Are you near Kamloops?........Don.

That could be a little close for comfort. It gives the sun a nice starburst effect.

Thanks Don . . .

Yes, it doesn't look good for us around here this year. I am right in Kamloops. In 2003 we volunteered from Aug 1 to Sept 15 with all the wildfires we had. Think we had a total of 640 in the Kamloops region, over 1,000 province wide. We processed almos 50,000 evacuees . . . Will never forget . . .

Those are great pix, Peter. Let's all hope we don't have a repeat of the disastrous fires of 2003.

We're getting some smoke in the North Okanagan today from the Kamloops fires, as you can see from the haze. I hope everything's going well there.

Getting way too close . . . and yes, it does provide a very interesting filter!

Hi squirl . . .

The fire is growing but would have a long ways to come here. However we can see (and taste) the smoke. Fire was at 80 hectares yesterday evening. Now at 800 hectares . . .

Hi Toshi,

Thanks for the pic . . .

The smoke is being blown around here quite a bit and we had some ash falling in the area. Still pales in comparison to 2003, but none the less a big concern . . .
