Excellent shots, Bahadir! Thank you also for the history lesson. As a Catholic, you have brought me a new appreciation for the forefathers of my faith. I know a lot of the history but I need photographs to help get a visional picture in my head!

Thanks!

Ron

You have excelled yourself, these are beautiful photos, I was looking on the net, about the history of Ismir and the surrounding area, very fascinating especially the rock churches, one of the chapsI work with, said he had seen them, and said I have to get to see them, and one day in the near future my wife and I will.

Gisli, drawn in byyourfairyland shots,at last I remembered to replyyour post for my topic )

Drewaz, while posting the Valley shot, I was thinking about theresemblance with yours' on the grounds of the inland climate and the geographical process andguessed that it mightariseyour interest Thank you for your kind appreciation..

Ron, I am so glad to hear that my narration which accompany the images also proved to be useful.Dug into the rock, you should also have seen their modest, long dinner tables where they gathered to commemorate Christ and his Apostles every evening...As you see, during my visit, I was so impressed by the region, Capadocia, that I could associate myself with the early monks while not being a Catholic mysely! I also very much admired their artistic skills whose evidence was obvious on the rocks. The fact that these people spent their entire lifetimes which were dedicated to 'knowledge' and contemplation, in theland Iwas born makes me consider them my forefathers also and thus makes us brothers I guess

Oh, you can't bebehind, Alex.Whenever you arrive, it's your highly expected time! Thank you for your kind words and interest. I can see that we both enjoy landscapes adorned with historical traces. You say: ''...and one day in the near future my wife and I will. ''Reminding you of your strong link in Anatolia,Isay, may this near future be near !
