Default Somewhere under the rainbow

I've been doing some product photography for a neighbor who is co-owner of an electric bike company. This morning at 7 a.m., after an overnight rain, I rode down to the beach just in time to see a rainbow, so I clicked off this shot.

It's a good picture. IMO though, for advertising/marketing, I would do something a bit different. For example, put a hot looking girl on the bike with an intense look on her face and change the background out - bike now riding on a wire suspended between two skyscrapers. (Sky depicts clouds & some aircraft flying in the background.)

Mainly, in this day & age, sensationalism is needed to attract the mind's eye.

Ordinarily, I would agree with you completely. However, the owner says that his target market is the 55+ age group, so he wanted shots of people that were representative of those folks. Here's a shot of my wife on one of the bikes.

Very nice.
Actually, you shoud be able to have lots of fun taking bike photos (e, against a suitable background) and inserting them in various backgrounds. For example, a Christmas Holiday scenery.

The sky is the limit - ha.

Checkout the images/ideas available on google "bicycle ads".

Good luck !

Great shots and they even remembered to keep the mudguards on.
