Default SD card wants formatting

Hello everybody,
I have a 1GB SdDcard that as far as I can remember I formatted with a PC , I then used it in a Digital DVR to create movie files. I have succesfully viewed these files through a USB card reader, however I tried to read this card in my camera and it said " Memory Card error, format card now?", I tried to read it on another PC but I got this messge "The disk in drive is not formatted, do you wnat to format it now"

Does this mean by placing the card in my camera it corrupted the file system?..Is it possible to recover these vid clips?

Thanks in advance

Any number of things could have caused the errors you're seeing, and simply inserting the card into a camera isn't likely to be one of them.

Try inserting the card into the card reader you used to view the videos, and if you get a similar error, don't format it, and run http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec to recover any files that might be on the card.
