Default Lost photos on memory card

I've got a situation with a camera of a friend of mine. After she went on vacation, suddenly the camera showed an error, and she lost all of her photos.

She already asked somebody else to take a look at it, but he seems to have made it even worse.

When I look at the memory card when it is plugged into my cardreader, the few folders that are still on the memory card are all empty. But when I use Directory Snoop to view the files, the folders still contain photos. Directory Snoop says the viewed photos are not deleted, so I can't recover them by using Directory Snoop.

Has anyone else had this problem or knows a way to recover the lost photos?

Kind regards,

Welcome to the forum.

If it is an SD card, lock the write-protect switch. This should reduce the
risk of doing further damage if the camera or computer tries to write to the

PhotoRec is one of the better file recovery tools: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

Good Luck.

Have youlooked through the thread Recovering Images or Video from Memory Cards

This should answer most of your questions and provide s/w links. I have had pretty good results with PCI file inspector.
