Default How fast is "High Speed" Compacy Flash?

Canon stated that their new Powershot S230 Digital ELPH (IXUXv3) requires "High Speed" Compact Flash. How fasr is CF? is 'High Speed CF' faster than 24X?

this chart is an example of read and write speeds of cards (i do not vouch for the validity of the data as it is info supplied by a mfgr vs the rest)
what you are looking for is a high sustained xfr rates. burst is always higher just like a hard drive ata100 is capable of 100MBs burst sustained is usually 40MBs or less. then you have to deal with what level of the ata spec is followed in your individual camera which will vary by model/manufacturer.
pro cameras generally have substantially higher xfr rates
