I was in our local large grocery store today (Atlantic Super Store) and noticed that their Camera/Electronics counter sells Memory Cards for most digital cameras. They have 256 mb Compact Flash for $49.95 which is about $20 less tham most discount stores (Staples & Futureshop), the make is Core Micro.
At first I was not sure about the quality and speed performance however after the counter person assured me that they sell a lot of these cards without any complaints I took the plunge and bought a 256Mb. Compact Flash Card for my Coolpix. I'm delighted to report that the card works fine and is in fact much faster than my 128 Mb. and 64Mb. Sandisk cards.

For Canadians this is a good alternative worth checking into in my opinion.
