There are several memory stick pro duo products and speeds:

Memory stick Pro Duo: MSX-M512A and MSX-M512S

Memory Stick Pro Duo High Speed: MSX-M512N

The High Speed has higher specs, I can't determine the difference between the other two. And I don't know if there are any products that can take advantage of the High Speed.

Having just pruchased the DSC-M1 I think the Pro DUo non-high speed is adequate, but can't find anything definitive.

If the High Speed has no products for its use, what's the point?

On another matter, the Sandisk Pro Duo 512MB is manufactured in China. I'm concerned about the quality vs. Sony (Japan). Comments?

There also seems to be a scarcity of 1GB MS Pro Duo products, and astronomically priced currently. If anyone sees a bargain, please report it! The DSC-M1 likes a lot of memory.

I am a Brazilian living in Japan.I can tell you that Sony's memory sticks are made in Japan by Brazilians.hehe(lots of Japanese descendents here). My friend works at Sony's memory stick factory in OKAZAKI city, AICHI Prefecture.I really think it doen't matter where MS are made but company's quality control does.Sundisk or Sony,China or Japan? It is hard to tell if you are not there seeing people working.Operators feel so much pressure about daily production, quantity, etc from their bosses. You know what I mean.
