i just got a 4 GB hitachi microdrive and tested it im my camera as far as a speed with my older 512MB CF Ultra II from Sandisk.

i used the Digital Rebel XT in the burst mode shooting RAW + JPEG (Large/fine) at iso 1600 to get these recordcing times.

the buffer on the camera allows for 4 shots and i started my timer at the end of the 4th shot and stopped the timer after the record light shut off. (no review time on the pictures)

with the microdrive the time it took to record the images was about 10.5 seconds and the ultra II took about 8.6 seconds.

i hope this will be useful for someone who is in the market for higher capacity storage.

I was actually contemplating between those 2 cards the other day. I went with the Sandisk Ultra II.

Glad of your research and findings. Thanks very much!!!!!

Now I feel I made a good decision.
