I recently purchased an Olympus C-8080. Absolutely love the camera. Along with it came a 32 Mb Xd card. I immediately bought another Xd card, this time 512Mb. Also, I purchased an inexpensive 'all in one' card reader. (Alcor Micro 6362). After firing about a hundred shots of various resolutions, I did some file deleting on the card reader. Then the card became unreadable by the camera but still readable by the card reader. I tried all formatting suggestions on various forums. I even bought another 512 Mb card and tried the image copy method in linux. Still no luck. So I took the bad card back to Wally World. I now have two 512 Mb cards.
I can certainly use the camera for downloading and file management on the cards but it is much less convenient.
Have others found a better, more reliable card reader that will restore the convenience and allow file management?
One more question....I know that the Xd cards have this problem....how about the Compact Flash or microdrive?
