I just recently bought a Canon SD500. Is a high speed memory card necessary? I can't find anywhere what speed card is needed for this camera. This camera has a 'Fast Frame Rate' video option and I want to ensure I won't have any problems with slow memory writing to the card as well as when I'm shooting at full resolution 7mp. Will I be fine if I purchase a generic brand such as A-data 50x speed? Or should I step up to the A-data 150x. The 50x has data transfer rates around 9mb/s where as the 150x is over 20mb/s... BUT do I need the 20mb/s or is that overkill?

Thanks in advance!

i think you only need 20mb/s if your camera support tiff and raw photo types. these file types are huge and a hi speed card is a must

i have a 50x card on my 8mp cam and its perfect. Images are pretty much instant but in raw they take about 2 secs to save. This speed card will also support hi speed vid on my cam. im sure it wil on urs
