I love to hike and I wanted a good way to take my new DSLR with me. Even though I have one of the lighter DSLR's available (Pentax K100D) it's still heavy compared to my old super-zoom p&s. I had been looking at camera bags that allow you to pack the camera away while you hike. But the more I thought about it, I realized that I don't want the camera packed away! I want it out and ready. I knew that the thin, nylon strap which Pentax supplied with the camera wasn't going to be very comfortable on a long hike, so I started looking around. I settled on the Optech Pro Loop Strap. I ordered it from a dealer on ebay for around $20 (includes shipping). WOW! What a difference! It is so comfortable that carrying my camera on a 4+ hour hike on a rugged 12 mile trail never bothered me a bit. From the pictures on line, the strap looks huge. It's not that big and it stretches to absorb shock. I will never put the old "stock" Pentax strap on again. I HIGHLY recommend the ProStrap to anyone with a DSLR.
