Anybody have experience with a lightning trigger? There's plans on the internet on how to build them and there's a few makers, but I want to find out if they work well first. I've read a lot of it also depends on your camera's shutter lag.

here's a couple websites

this company makes them

this one is for electrical plans

I've been thinking along these lines myself, and decided to build one to use in bulb mode, which will have a switch to set (open shutter) and the photosensor would send a slightly delayed reset (close shutter) to the camera.

Also working on sound trigger for trying to catch bullet flight. As with many of my projects, I don't get to work on them as much as I should.

I don't have any experience with the commercial one. The schematic looks at first glance as if it would work well.

What kind of camera do you plan on using VTphotog?

I was thinking of building it too, but it appears the Rebel XTi isn't all that good for lag speed.

another thing I want to try and build is a time lapse trigger, but the parts I was looking at using will put the cost in the $100 range which just doesn't justify it. I got a book for xmas called "Hacking Digital Cameras" and I think there was a section in there about sound triggers
