i was wondering if there is a tripod that can be used for flowers/rosesclose to the ground. i have a bogen 3033 and a monopod. the tripod is too big to haul around the yard, the monopod is too tall. i will be working w/ a 60mm (with 5t close-up lens)or 100/105mm lens and would like to set up as close to object as possible. any ideas on a tripod to hold a d200 and above lens(es). for what i would like to get out of a foto, will require smaller aperature from someone who has hands too shakey for handheld shots.

thank you

For your garden/macro shots have a look at Benbo Trekker tripod or Mini Trekker. They are very flexible, adaptable and you can set them up at any angle you can think of. It's a bit of a pain to get used to setting them up, but they are great and weather/water sealed.

The June issue of Outdoor Photographer has an article about macrophotography. They mention a few different tripods that would fit the bill for you maybe. Giottos MT-8180 is one, but the ones I really think might be good for you is the Really Right Stuff Ground Pod.or the Kirk Mighty Low Boy. The also show a Gitzo G2220 Explorer. There is not a lot of info aboutany of these in the article, but I'msure if you check out there web sites you willfind all the specs.
