I wonder if carpenter ants are the same thing--they are a lesser plague than termites but a very undesirable infestation. Seeing the wood textures make me want to go searching in the forest tomorrow.

thanks JDar, i know when i went looking for old trees as soon as i stopped to take a photo they were on my shoe and up my leg and they.....bite hard, so i would run AND GET THEM OFF IN A HURRY, so watch out you have been warned!

He He, its about asadventurous as i get, they were everywhere and covered the floor for about 8 meter diameter, i thought i could get real close as they are only small, right:homey:it was a Simpson day for me!

Wasn't Burnham woods in Shakespeare? Maybe I'm thinking of sonething else.
