Does anyone have any experience with digital projectors. One I'm looking at is the Optoma EP741. This is a DLP projector with a contrast ratio of 2000:1 and a resolution of 1024x768. Just about everything else in the same price range is 800x600 and all the LCD projectors have contrast ratios of 400:1 or less. What I'm not clear about is for projecting digital photos is the contrast ratio and native resolution a major factor. My feeling is that it is but I can't find any reviews or information that relate to using these projectors for photographs.

Is this the one?

Optoma EzPro741:

Amazon says it is only 800x600. I am thinking about investing in a projector for my digital photography club. This one looks good and I wish it was 1024x768.

Thanks,
Steven

Thanks for the response. I've actually ordered a BenQ PB6110 just waiting for it to arrive to see if I made the right decision. The price was right and it's DLP which I think is probably better for photos because of the higher contrast ratio.

The Optoma is 800x600 as well the Pixmania web site has it wrong.

I'm pleased with the PB6110. 1024x768 would be better but for the price this does a good job. The pixels aren't obvious at a reasonable viewing distance and the colour is fairly close to my laptop screen. It takes input a 1024x768 and downrezes it but the results are much sharper if you set the screen mode to 800x600.

As far as I can see the output is far better than the Sony LCD projector I've used before but that might be more to do with the age of the Sony projector.
