Stuck a couple of 300's inside, raid 1. Connected with e-sata
Hot swap drive trays, auto rebuild... I feel much more secure now...

Me too, I fell much more secure with backup on HD, a second on board, another external USB.

... The enclosure only kit is a bit expensive though.:roll:

Yea but it's not just the enclosure if you factor in the raid system is onboard, hotswapable & independant. If you rely on software raid... what happens if the system crashes.

I was comparing it to this box.... http://www.videoguys.com/gsata.html

$515, with no trays, no hot swap.

Mine came in at about $485 with shipping at 300 gb instead of 250

hodad66, yeah, I am contenting of regular data backup ("cloning") , and all onboard HD are ready to boot, in case. (of course, the windows won't reflect latest curent configuration)

quite good on gigawire. being a NAS i can put it just about anywhere in the house. plus there are USB2 ports on the back to even add to the already big mess i have.

Don't forget offsite backups in addition to RAID. What happens if the studio burns down?

I make a lot of archival gold DVD backups of my jobs, and leave them at my house. So if the studio is a total loss, I still have photos to fill customers' orders. My business info is also copied to one of those thumb drives each evening and I stick it in my pocket. If I survive, it survives! :G
