I tend to disagree. I'd rather pay for insurance policy than extended warranty. With warranty you're usually betting on mechanical or electronic failure due to defect - how often does that occur outside the usual warranty. IMO I'd rather pay on insurance policy - higher likelihood of theft or damage due to accident. Just another path to consider.

B&H or Adorama is where I usually shop on-line. Good service, reliable and best selection of accessories (cords, brackets, etc).

Those of you who have purchased your camera from an on line retailer, have you purchased the extended warranty?
I also go the insurance route. I actually have a buisness policy, (inland marine policy) It covers just about everything, including some liability coverage as well. If you are not doing any work for hire, you would not need the buisness policy though, but make sure you get replacement value. My policy before I got the buisness policy was less than $100 per year and covered about $7000 worth of equipment even if I dropped it. And the insurance policy is good for as long as you pay the premiums, a warranty is only good for a few years, which is probably just short of the time your equipment starts to wear out.
