My uncle has a great lens I'm hoping to use on an upcoming trip- problem is, it is a Sony lens (that mounts to his A700) and I have a Nikon D200 body.

I've called my local camera stores who profess cluelessness (Wolff even offered me a Sony -> Leica adaptor, baffling me).

Does such an adaptor exist? If so, how can I get my hands on one?

See http://photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00HQiu

Basically, Sony lenses mount closer to the image sensor on a Sony dSLR than Nikon lenses mount to the image sensor on a Nikon dSLR. Even if a Sony lens could mount directly on a Nikon body, it would be too far from the image sensor to focus at infinity. When you insert an adapter between the lens and the body, the lens will be even further away from the image sensor.

So, in this quantum state, what you want to do is impossible. [suB]:-)[/suB]
