I got me a nice Panasonic Lumix DMC-Fs5. Sometimes I go to music fests and take pictures of the bands playing. It's usually night and of course, there are bright and fancy stage lights. Somtimes they are shinning right into the lens(can't help it...bad timeing) when I take pics. Can they damage the sensor in the camera or mess up anything else in the camera?

Like your eye, a digital camera's image sensor can be damaged by prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. But while convert lights may approach the brightness of sunlight, they are constantly moving, so neither your eyes nor the image sensor will be experience prolonged exposure, and therefore should not suffer any permanent damage.
