I use the lens on a Somy A700 and for the most part it works out for me. I do use ISO800 and every once in a while ISO 1600. I would some day love to get a low f/s lens but money is tight now.

I thought my 70-300 was my favorite, but I've recently purchased a 50mm f1.7 that I really like AND a 70-210 f4 beercan that I'm still learning to use.

There's a big difference between "favorite" and "can't be without" workhorse lenses. My favorite lens is probably my least used lens (77 f1.8).
My most used lenses depend on where I am and what I'm doing. If I'm just fooling around having fun I'm probably using an older, manual focus 105mm macro or a recently purchased 10-17 fisheye. If I'm traveling I'm more likely going to be using the 12-24 and 50-135 f2.8 zoom, with the 200 f2.8 lens for when I want details that I can't get close to. If I'm out shooting wildlife or birds, I grab a 300mm f4 lens and forget the rest. |
