Default Vivitar Lens

I'm a newbie here so I'm not sure if this is the right forum, I have a Vivitar lens, its a 135mm 1:2.8 No. 28219180 and was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is an adapter that would allow me to mate it with a Nikon D300 camera?

Your lens is probably one of the following manual focus prime lenses:

Vivitar 135mm f/2.8 (made by Komine)
Vivitar 135mm f/2.8 close-focusing 1:2 Macro (made by Komine)
Vivitar 135mm f/2.8 T4 & TX (made by Tokina)

Although Vivitar had their own SLR line they are better known for selling lenses in other mounts current at the time such as Canon, Nikon, Pentax, etc. Your first task is to determine what mount you have then see if a adapter exists for it.

For the most part Vivitar sold good consumer grade lenses so you need to ask if it's worth the effort to find an adapter. Current lenses have the back of the last element coated to cut down reflections from the digital sensor which was not required for a film camera. You will be dealing with manual focus and probably manual aperture as well as a possibility that the lens won't be able to focus to infinity.

Here is a lens mount identification guide...

You can probably take the lens to a camera store and they might be able to help you with the mount type.
