Default Multimedia vs Secure Digital

What's the difference between multimedia and SD cards? Any speed difference or anything? By the way any brands recommended or not recommended for memory cards of these two types for a Minolta X20?

SD is faster. You probably wonít see much speed difference with that camera in major brand SD cards. There are high speed SD cards but you pay for them. I donít think you would see the difference between standard and high speed. There is some good discussion on the Panasonic board.

MMC cards are only a fraction of the speed of any (even the slowest) Secure Digital Cards. I would not recommend purchasing MMC.

The difference between sD and MMC (beside the packaging thickness) is mainly the number of data line used by a specific device: With 1 serial line only, sD = MMC.

As the number of data lines (up to 4) used by a device increases (ie camera, PDA etc) so is their data rate... MMC unlike sD is a one line device only.
