Default Canon PowerShot SX40 HS Settings

Hi y'all. I've purchased the SX40 and am thrilled to begin using it full-time!!! I'm replacing the PowerShot IS2, which I loved.

I love to go to concerts and capture video and photos. When I purchased the IS2, I received some great advice on what settings to use to best caputre my concert photos. I would love to have some expert help on the best settings to use for concerts. I am usually not in the nosebleed, section, but not always in front of the stage. I'd love some feedback on what settings would be best for the SX40. Thanks in advance.

When I shot some indoor gigs with my SX40, I shot in Aperture priority and selected the widest aperture available at all focal lengths- lowest "f" number.
I also selected iso 1600 to give me as much shutter speed as possible...
Selecting the AF area might be of benefit also- usually the centre for me...
