What is the proper pronunciation of the word "BOKEH" ? i have heard it pronounced many different ways. I have heard it pronounced "bolka"... sounds just like the like the dance music word "polka" except the letter p was changed to the letter b. I have also read that this word bokeh is the english translation of an original Japanese word. I would like to be able to say this word correctly so I don't sound stupid. Thanks.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh
It comes from "boke", which is the Japanese word for blur. It is pronounced like the word "bouquet", optionally with the accent on the first syllable instead of the second.

Pronunciation is even more variable than spelling. Anyone who insists on a particular, 'perfect' pronunciation of a foreign word is not worth listening to. If you mention 'bokeh', and someone thinks you are talking about a place in Florida, you are close enough.

Try http://translate.google.com/?hl=en&t...83%9C%E3%82%B1
On the left side is the Japanese word ボケ, which means blur. Also in that box is a Listen button. You can click on that button, and it will pronounce the Japanese word for you.
