Default uv filter and canon a590

Hi I have a Canon A590 with a lens hood. Does a new UV filter fit on between the hood and the adapter tube or at the other end of the hood please?

I'm not familiar with that model/set-up.

I'd have the filter at the end of the adapter tube and then add the hood so you shielded the filter from as many reflections and flares as possible.

Using filters with those tubes made them somewhat prone to flares in harsh outdoor light, so pay close attention on bright, hazy, overcast days.

G'day Stoppage

I've not seen the 590 & its adapter tube ... but if it's like the Fuji & Panasonic equivalents, then any filters & closeup lenses go onto the outer end of the tube, so that the zoom lens can go back & forth without hitting anything

I really don't think you need a UV filter as most sensors these days are not as UV prone as some films used to be. But for you to use an ND-8 filter for example to slow down shutter times to show movement &/or a CPL filter to bring out bright blue skies &/or a close up lens so that you can get great closeups without the problems of the in-camera macro ... well those things could become very useful to you

Hope this helps
