A friend asked me to see if I could find out why many of their pictures are over exposed; and gave me a whole lot of images to look at. After checking the exif data, I saw that all of the overexposed ones are at iso 1600, and the good ones at iso 100 or 200. (The exif data listed the overexposed ones to be "Base iso: 1600, and the well exposed ones to be "Base iso: 200) For me, this is no problem; but they just want to use the camera as a point and shoot, and have no interest in monkeying around with settings. All the images are vacation pictures, scenery and friends, mostly outside. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with camera, so I am asking those who are ...... What default mode/settings can I tell them to set the camera to in order to get good pictures most of the time.
