Default canon eos 1000d auto focus

hi, I own a canon 1000d and my I do not understand if there's something wrong with my autofocus. when I put it to af the camera focuses and all, but it doesn't snap ie it doesn't take the picture. why, please?

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that when you half-press the shutter button, the camera focuses on the subject, but when you then fully press the shutter button, it doesn't take capture a photo.

There are a few reasons why that might happen.
  • The SD Flash Memory card is missing.
  • The SD Flash Memory card is full.
  • The SD Flash Memory card is locked.
  • For one of many reasons, the camera can't focus on your composition, and you should try to focus manually.
    When looking through the viewfinder, at the far right of all the little icons on the bottom, there's a solid circle that is the focus confirmation light. If that light comes on solid, the camera is ready to take a photo. If it blinks, there's something about the scene that prevents the AF from working.
