Default Shutter lag, which camera?

It is time to upgrade the Palm Cam. I am looding for a min. 10X for wildlife shots and point and shoot snapshots, but insist on low shutter lag time. I can't afford an SLR and they are too big. I pretty well understand f/stops , the correlation between auto focus and shutter lag, and stablization. The Panasonic DMC FZ10 keeps coming out on top, but how about the Fuji S5000 or the Minolta Z1 or Z2 and of course the Cannon S1 SI or even the Olympus C-750-UZ. The FZ10's 2.8 Lica lens appears to be the best of the bunch but what about auto focus time? How do you figure total lag time from the camera specs?

Go with FZ10.

You have image stabilization AND 12X optical zoom.

and 4 megapixels.

Also, check out the Panasonic threads re fz10 on this forum.

If you are only going to print occasional 8x10's, consider a used C-2100. It has a very low shutter lag (about .1 sec). For most cameras, I'd turn OFF autofocus and prefocus by half-pressing the shutter release button; when ready to snap the pic, fully depress the button for minimum shutter lag. Also, if you are using flash, turn OFF redeye reduction...
