I have a Nikon Coolpix 8700 and want an external flash that has the capability of being held away from the camera. Can any flash do that with a sync cord? What is the difference between a sync cord and and an off camera terminal?
Appreciate any education.....Thanks |

A sync cord is designed to trigger studio strobes. It's just a trigger and carries no camera information. An off-camera cord has one end that fits into the hot shoe on the camera and the other end has another hot shoe to plug your flash into. Basically an extension cord for a shoe mounted flash that will retain the TTL metering, AF assist, and stuff like that. Good for getting the flash away from the lens to reduce red-eye.

I guess I don't want a sync cord then, so which flash would you suggest for a camera terminal cord then?
