If you need a small camera with a hot shoe it is a good camera. It has a good movie mode and is reasonably fast for shutter delay. The holographic focus works well for things within about 8 feet. People complain about the flash being in the way when you hold it, but that is probably a tester's problem rather than an owner's problem. You learn to use whatever you buy.

If size isn't that big a factor I would prefer the Canon G5, although the shutter delay isn't as good.

My sister has a V1, and it takes great pictures. I like the feature set on my Fuji S5000 better, which is why I purchased it instead of the V1, but the V1 is a very nice camera.
