i'm new here... i used a HP Photosmart 315 for about 2 years, a pretty straight forward camera w/ one major annoyance in my opinion; bad @ close-up's so yesterday i purchased a Canon PowerShot S410 4MP Digital Elph. lots of nifty tricky settings you can set which is cool.

to prevent me from a lot of testing, can anyone tell how to take the best close-up's ? for instance of a piercing and/or tattoo ??

thanks in advance!

Unfortunately this type of camera body isn't the best for serious closeup photography, but the main things to do is make sure you have enough light on the subject (don't depend on the flash as it's fixed in position and depending on how close you get you might get some shadow from the lens).

Set your zoom for the widest position, turn on macro mode, and start practicing...that's the only way to get good at photography.
