Since you've gotten no other responses, I'll give you my "two cents" worth.

I'd go with the Canon A80. It's got a larger CCD (1/1.8") compared to the Olympus' smaller 1/2.5" CCD. Since the photosites for each pixel are larger with the Canon, it will also perform better at higher ISO speeds (less noise, which is similiar to film grain).

The Canon also gives you far more flexbility (things like manual control of aperture and shutter speed, aperture and shutter priority, etc.). You may not care about using these features now, butyou may later.

The Canon also lets you use filters and lens accessories with an optional adapter. You may decide that the effect of an inexpensive Polarizer Filter to help bring out blue skies and reduce reflections is a good idea.

Another thing that Steve noted in the Olympus review here, is that it's startup time is a bit long. Sometimes, when you see an interesting subject, you don't have time to wait for a slow starting camera to boot up.

In addition, Steve noted another "quirk" -- that some of the Olympus settings (like the date) have to be reset when changing batteries. This would drive me nuts.

One other thing to consider is the Memory Type used. The Olympus uses xDPictureCard memory. The Canon uses lower priced CompactFlash memory. Although, I wouldn't let memory type influence my decision too much.
