Default Canon S30 vs Diamge f100

I have used but never owned a digicamera, but am about to buy either the Canon S30 or the Dimage f100. I love the Dimage but am worried about the low light operation. Can onyone offer comment on how bad the low light effect is for the Dimage and how I might compensate? Aslo, are there any hidden 'Gott Yas' from owning the Minolta rather than the more widely available Canon brand?

I would vote for the Minolta due to it's better Sensor Pixel (4.1MP vs 3.34MP),
and faster aperature at the higher end of the zoom (F2.8 - F4.7 vs F2.8-F4.9 / F8).
