I'm getting a Canon Digital Rebel (I got a good deal at work), so I basically end up paying a couple of hundred $'s. Anyway, since I'm pretty new to this I've been looking at some books to get me started. I know I can find a lot of information at web sites like this one, but I'm one of those guys that appreciate the hand holding of a good book.

But a lot of books seem to be based around the entire "digital photography" experience: some pages about taking pictures, but a lot of pages about:

- picking a camera (which i already have done)
- digital editing in Photoshop (which I've been using for 6 years)
- basic computer stuff (organizing your photos)

What I need is a book about photography, but one that is written with digital camera users in mind. A book that gives good advice when it comes to actually taking pictures: aperture, etc.

A friend recommended John Hedgecoe's book "The New Manual of Photography", anyone know anything about that book?

Thanks for reading through this post

Have a look at this site.... should be something there to fit your needs.I have his book on the Nikon Coolpix 995 and it has a lot of good info on general digital photography as well as camera specific instruction.

He has a book for your camera too.
