Default Need advice for taking snow pictures.

Hello, can I please get some advice for shooting winter (snow) scenes? Are there certain lenses or white balance settings I should use? I have a Nikon 4500.

Thanks in advance

Default Compensation...

The most important thing is to dial in about 1 to 1.5 stops (EV) of + compensation, otherwise the snow will be rendered gray by the averaging of the metering, and the highlights will also be darkened.

White balance is determined by the sun/cloud conditions, and can be optimized by using a custom white balance under the light you are shooting in. Use a white card, but be careful because many white cards/papers are actually treated to make them look whiter, and the camera will see them as bluer than white.
