Default Advice on camera for school kids

I wonder if anyone could help. I've been asked by school to research digital cameras with the aim of buying one for the school. The children are age 7-11 and we need a camera that's very simple to use, quite robust and quite cheap. Someone at the school is very keen on a Sony Mavica because it will take floppy discs as well as memory sticks. I'm not sure that is the best justification for choosing a camera. I'm more inclined to look for something with a docking station for ease of use. Maybe a Kodak or something.

Any suggestions please?

Think about kids that age opening up anything without getting peanut butter, jam, pop, ... into it. That should be enough to make you move to a docking station system. A quick look at the price of those Sonys should discourage those thoughts as well - though they seem to have started to go on sale.

Might be an idea to avoid zoom lenses - they're very fragile.
