I won a bid on ebay and the seller told me it's new. However I doubt it. How can i tell if the camera is ne w or not? Is there something like odometer in the camera that can tell you how many pictures have been taken?

I am not sure about how easy it is to set the "odometer" on that digital camera. However, if I take 20 pictures with an sd card (or whatever memory card), not the card included with the camera, then ship it to you, claiming it's new, and you take pictures with another sd card, the first picture you take will be named something like img0021. However, if the camera is refurbished, everything is usually reset back to img0001.

However, there may be some "hacks" than clever people can figure out to reset the image count.

One other thing you can consider is your ebay seller's track record. Does he/she have any negative ratings and, if so, for what?

Hope you enjoy your camera.

the file count is nottrue you can always have a IMAG0001.

1. look at the battery terminals do they show any wear , or dark markings?

2 see if there is any film covering the lens or lcd panal

3,did the box feel like it was hard to open?

4 was the instruction booklet flat and no bends, the cdr crisp and clean no scratchs?

the list can go on and on
