I just wanted to express my thanks to all the members who contribute their questions and answers to the many topics listed in these forums.

I have been a film SLR (Canon) user of many years who was interested in exploring the move to digital. Just by reading a lot of posts on many topics over a period of weeks, I learned more about the topic than I probably could taking months without access to this information every day. I felt these forums helped me make an informed decision very quickly. Many of the topics I read are probably elementary to the experienced, but they gave me things to consider that I may have overlooked otherwise.

Some of the topics were also very educational on the practical aspects of digital photos that answered a lot of things in straightforward terms. These are the type of topics I really appreciated from experienced photographers who were not trying to sell me anything. You educated me. Thank you.

After a few weeks of reading the forum topics, I felt knowledgeable enough to proceed with my decision and purchase a DSLR. After one week of using it, I am enjoying taking photos again. I still have a lot to learn and plan of visiting many forums frequently.

Thanks again to the organizers, moderators, members and subscribers who make these forums work.

Ken W.

As a long term poster on Steve's I think I can speak for many here and say:
Glad to help!

Steve's is kinda a magical place on the web. I've read many other forums and Steve's consistently has the nicest people. They might not be technically the most knowledgeable, but for a good strong foundation to build on this is a good place to go.

And there is so little attitude expressed, with a willingness to answer basically any question.... we try to keep it a nice place to learn and enjoy.

I just posted this in the General Q&A forum, but in response to you saying the same thing as me, I figure I'll add it here too:

I just wanted to extend a big thank-you to everyone here in these forums. I've been lurking over the past few days while deciding what camera to buy and have found this site to be the most helpful and informative of them all.

I ended up deciding on the Canon 350D (Digital Rebel XT) camera and also picked up a couple of the SanDisk Ultra II 1GB CF cards. The reviews and discussions here helped me immensely.

You guys also saved me from buying my camera from WAWA Digital / Starlight Photo. That would have been a nightmare in itself.

In any case, thanks to all for making this a great community.

I'd like to add my vote of thanks too. (Maybe we could start a 'thankyou!' forum?'. I'd been giving myself a headache trying to find a camera that came close to my wish list, and your members helped tremendously, giving up their precious time to write often lengthy replies that never failed to be helpful.

I've bought the camera now, but I still log on now and again to see what's new and if I can pass on any help to others who are in the same boat I was.

Thank you and keep up the good work!
