Let me start off by stating that I am a real newbie in the photography world.
I have owned my Nikon D70s for only a year now and it is my first venture past my point-n-shoot cameras.

I just bought my first square filter... A Singh-Ray soft 2stop along with a Colkin P holder from B&H Photo.
My issue is this....

The filter is not flat. Not flat at all.
In my opinion it is "extremely" warped.

I by-passed B&H and called the 800 number on the Singh-Ray web site and the gentleman I spoke with said that they can have a slight warp/curvature to them but that it would not affect my photos at all. He also told me that they were made of Resin and not glass.

I am fairly new to all this and have not had a chance to take any photos with the new filter....but wouldn't the filter need to be flat so as not to introduce any "fun house" warping to my images?

I am also a little upset that I paid $99 for this Singh-Ray because I thought I read that they were the best quality and made of glass and wouldn't not scratch as easily as resin and not attract dust like a resin or plastic filter.
Does anybody else here have a filter like this and if so is it flat?
If you have one with a warp to it...does it effect the image?
Should I return it or is there a way to flatten it out?

Thanks for any input on this.

If the filter is obviously warped I would return it. I doubt that it will cause a much distortion in your photos, but you will probably never be happy with it.

I took some photos with the filter and the warp didn't seem to affect them.
However the filter slipped out of the holder a few times due to the warp.

I called B&H and they gave me an RMA number to return it...no questions asked.

Thanks all
