Default Are megapixels numbers like sunblock numbers?

Did I get your attention?
I am a pro photographer who has shot exclusively on polaroid for the past 6 years or so. Now I am ready to give digital a real shot, but I need some help with cameras.

Picture quality
Manual operation
Macro performance
Print quality up to 16"x20"
Shutter lag
Good LCD viewing

Not Concerned With>
Camera size
Start up times
In camera flash or red eye reduction
Lens speed
Zoom capability

Can this be done by spending say,$550.00 on ebay on something used?
Screw in filters would be a nice plus as well....
Do I need RAW format?

If you haven't done anything with digital, I'd suggest starting by scanning some of your existing work. Or shooting to be put on CD - fairly cheap for somewhat low resolution scans. Then learn how to use a photo editor. One of the dirty secrets of digital is that you have to do your own "darkroom" work.

By the time you figure that out, you will have a much better idea of what you want in a camera, you will be ready to use it, and the prices will likely have come down further.

Default Olympus C 5050 Zoom?- any owners?

Olympus C 5050 Zoom looks great - any ideas on this versus
Nikon Coolpix 5000?

Mr. Drew..
Thanks- yes, I have scanned my work, and can use photoshop reasonably well.
I used an old Sony Mavica on a few jobs...
See my website for scanned work>

I'm ready for a digital camera!
