I have just purchased a second D70s and would like to know if it is possible to have different file names on each camera?

I also shoot a D2h where I can change the default file name from DSC_001 etc.

I do not want a situation where I accidentally overwrite a file with a file of the same name especially if it is a paying job.

Should I set one D70s to reset the file numbering and leave the other to continue the sequence? Would they eventually overlap?

All suggestions appreciated?

Any naming scheme that relies on a difference in the numbering runs the risk of having the same name at some point.

I use Nikon View 6 to copy the files off the card. It can be configured to copy to a different folder every time, I use the system date plus a count. It can also be configured to change the file name as it copies the card. Works great with a card reader as well.

Best of all it's a free download from the Nikon web sites!
