I'm about to pick up a D50. I can save about $50 by getting the body only and buying the Kit 18-55 DX series lens that has been refurbished. Any opinons? I think that extra $50 would be better served going towards a new SD card...

I don't think you will have any problems. I have bought many refurbished products and have never had any issues. My experience has been they meet the same standards as a new item with the exception of cosmetic blemishes, and they have been non-existent to barly noticable. So I think your right, save your $50 and buy more camera stuff.

agreed, you won't be relying too heavily on the kit lens in say a year from now anyway (Assuming you pick up more lenses) The Kit lens has a few "issues" that I can't stand about it, but optically its decent.
