Hi there. I've got a 35mm Nikon F801 with 35-70mm Nikkor lens. I would like to know what Nikon DLSRmodels will be compatible with my lens if I was to take the lens off and mount it to a DSLR?

Thanks in advance.

Any Nikon DSLR model will work with your Nikkor AF lens.

You'd lose Autofocus on the new Nikon D40 (Nikon removed the in body focus motor from this new entry level model, and it requires a lens with a built in focus motor for Autofocus). You'd still have Autofocus on all other Nikon DSLR models with it.

Note that your lens will appear to be 50% longer on a Nikon DSLR. Because the sensor in a Nikon DSLR is smaller than 35mm film, you'll have more apparent magnification (narrower angle of view) for any given focal length.

IOW, your 35-70mm lens will behave like a 52-105mm lens when used on a Nikon DSLR.

The narrower angle of view is one reason you'll find so many "kit" lenses starting out at around 18mm (since they will appear to be 1.5x longer on a DSLR).
