The broken button would cramp your style when shooting in portrait mode. You have to ask what else is broken that you haven't noticed. How did it get broken?

Hi Doc,

If it a USA model it can be repaired by Nikon. If it was originally a Grey market model it would not be repaired by Nikon in the USA. The fault is probably in the switch that converts the electronics in the camera to know when the camera is being used horizontally or vertical. Unless it is being sold Super cheap you should probably not buy it. If it was Grey market don't buy it at all.
