It's probably been done to death, but is there no way to mount old Nikkor, manual lenses on a D80 ? I've read the manual and see they are not compatible, but is it just the dark metal tab that connects the diaphragm of the lens to the camera that intrudes into the D80 body, causing grief ? I have a number of old lenses that I'll never use for film again. Has anyone tried removing this tab, if it is the problem ? I read a posting, I think it was "Kramer's Backyard" that mentioned using a 70-300 VR lens with an adapted teleconverter. Is the adaption basically removing the tab and mechanism ? Also, surely someone will make a mount that will fit the camera body and move the lens just far enough out to not be a risk ? I also have a 55mm macro lens with about a one inch high spacer body that has no diaphragm connection. Is that safe to use?

Thanks for your thoughts !
