Hello all. I am an American currently residing in Japan. I've been here about a year and a half and will be moving back to the U.S. at the beginning of August 2008 (so around five or six months from now). I was planning on ordering a D80 and lens from the U.S. as most electronics are more expensive here but I recently discovered that I can get the camera body and lens in Japan for only around $20 more than from the U.S. Plus I won't have to worry about it being shipped to Japan and the possibilities of damage. The only problem is that it will come with a one year Japanese waranty and I will only be in Japan for another six months or so. Also the instruction booklet for both the lens and the camera will be in Japanese.

What are your thoughts on this? Should I go ahead and buy them in Japan, knowing that any initial defects could be handled immediately within Japan or buy the U.S. version for more long-term coverage? Also, I've found several D80 user guides online but could I order an instruction booklet in English from Nikon?

Thanks in advance for any help.
