I haven't really posted much on this board much since I bought my first Olympus 4040 Zoom in 2002. And my username and password were still here.

I just got a D40 for my wife and only just noticed there doesn't seem to be a movie mode. Am I missing something? I thought even the el cheapo cameras had that. I read Steve's review on it before buying. Since he gave a good review and it was on sale, I thought I'd try it.

Other than that, I hope it turns out to be a decent camera. It's a replacement for her Nikon 35mm film camera that was stolen last year.

It's a great camera. I think you will like it. I have one and I love it. The exposure it great and it's fast.

As far as movie mode, sorry .... it does not have one. I cannot say that there is not a single DSLR with movie mode, but I don't know of any with it. Typically your P&S cameras all have it, but DSLR's don't. I suppose they could, but I would think it would be harder to put a movie mode in a DSLR due to their design, as well as I think they probably feel that most people with a DSLR are more serious about getting good pictures. Therefore they concentrate on that area rather than comprimising the camera quality by putting in other features.
