Problem: My D3 gets jammed and warns that battery is empty.I can notshoot before Iturn the power off and on again. Then I can shoot few frames and the problem appears again. (According the menu meter battery is charged 85%+)

I usually shoot Fine jpeg and Raw at the same time. I have been carrying the D3 quite much in heat (being tourist herein Rome at the moment)

The battery is original EN-EL4a and according the D3 menu meter it is in good condition. I also just calibrated the battery, but it did not remove the problem.

QUESTION: Can anybody help to explain what is causing this problem. Is it the D3or the battery ?

Sounds like DBS (google it if you need a definition). This was a prominent issue with the D300, but also appeared in the D3. Mostly it was happening with longer lenses (most often the 70-200 VR, but it also appeared with other lenses). Nikon recently issued a firmware upgrade that addresses this issue as well as a few others. Download and install the new firmware and hopefully your problem will be solved.
