No (it's not fully compatible, unless you want to use manual focus).
Within the Nikon lineup, you'll need an AF-S (Silent Wave Focus motor) lens if you want Autofocus. The Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6 AF lens is not an AF-S lens. Note that Nikon does offer a 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 AF-S VR (Vibration Reduction) lens you could use on it, and there are a number of other lenses available from both Nikon and third party lens manufacturers now with built in motors that would allow Autofocus on a D3000. But, the lens you're looking at is not one of them. You can see a list of Nikkor lenses here. Only the lenses that have AF-S in their product names will Autofocus on your D3000. http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Ni...ses/index.page |

P.S.
If you're looking for a budget 70-300mm lens for your D3000, you may want to look at the Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro. Just make sure that you buy one that has a "Built In Motor", as they also made some of their same lenses without Built In Motors. Note how this listing specifically mentions that the one they're selling has a Built In Motor (which means that it would Autofocus on your D3000): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...5_6_Di_LD.html |
